I've been brainstorming decks left and right this past week in preparation for States, and I'd like to share them with you for input and inspiration. (Obviously) this was the first idea that came to my mind.
Big Red
4 Tectonic Edge 20 Mountains
4 Everflowing Chalice 2 Khalni Gem
3 Destructive Force 4 Koth of the Hammer 2 Chandra Nalaar
3 Wurmcoil Engine 2 Inferno Titan 4 Kargan Dragonlord 4 Goblin Ruinblaster
4 Lightning Bolt 4 Flame Slash
I think this is might be a deck that looks better on paper than in practice, but there's a small part of my brain that keeps nagging me to try it.
This seems like the kind of deck that can absolutely punish the random aggro decks one tends to run into at States every year. I'm certain between the artifact mana and Koth, I can make Destructive Force completely asymmetrical and in my favor.
I'm not totally sold on Goblin Ruinblaster, he doesn't battle too well. He might be better off as Goblin Guide.
I would love to maindeck Kuldotha Phoenix but I don't think I can reliably get metalcraft online. He would be a very reliable sideboard card for any control matchups where I can go to the long game with a recurrable threat however.
Thoughts? Criticisms?

Have you thought about using Lavaball Trap instead of Destructive Force? I don't know how big the difference in 4 and 5 damage to creatures is in this format so Force could be the right choice because of that. Koth is a such a power house. Untapping with Koth and Kargan Dragonlord guarantees the mana needed to level up to 8 as long as you control 4 Mountains even if you haven't leveled him at all. I like the inclusion Flame Slash for the aggro games.

I've also read of people using Molten-Tail Masticore as an answer to Kor Firewalker. If it is possible to get multiple creatures in the graveyard, the Masticore can also be a strong finisher. Untapping with Koth in play allows you to cast and activate the Masticore 2-3 times depending on the number of Mountains you control. The real problem is getting 3 creatures in the graveyard by the time you can cast him since there's no Hellspark Elementals or Hell's Thunders any more.

You could use Ember Hauler to get creatures in the graveyard, since your heavy red. Just a suggestion to replace Goblin Ruinblaster.
