I decided to do a general review of my entire PTQ from Hattiesburg. To be honest I am doing this to help myself as typing this out and thinking about everything is going to allow me to assess what I did wrong and little things I missed that might have made the difference. With that said I figured that doing this on a public forum might randomly help someone elso on here to. So let's start with my pool.
1 Saberclaw Golem
1 Barbed Battlegear
1 Bladed Pinions
1 Auriok Replica
1 Clone Shell
1 Corpse Cur
1 Ichorclaw Myr
1 Nihil Spellbomb
1 Flameborn Hellion
1 Goblin Gaveleer
1 Oxidda Daredevil
1 Vulshok Heartstoker
1 Screeching Silcaw
1 Embersmith
1 Leaden Myr
1 Disperse
1 Arc Trail
1 Contagion Clasp
1 Vedalken Certarch
1 Panic Spellbomb
1 Sylvok Lifestaff
1 Engulfing Slagwurm
1 Origin Spellbomb
2 Glint Hawk Idol
1 Rusted Relic
1 Snapsail Glider
1 Bladed Pinions
1 Exsanguinate
2 Flesh Allergy
1 Fume Spitter
1 Ichor Rats
2 Instill Infection
1 Memoricide
1 Moriok Reaver
1 Painful Quandary (foil)
1 Painsmith
2 Psychic Miasma
1 Relic Putrescence
1 Abuna Acolyte
1 Revoke Existence
1 Arrest
1 Fulgent Distraction
1 Salvage Scout
3 Seize the Initiative (1 foil)
1 Soul Parry
2 Turn Aside
1 Vault Skyward
1 Blight Mamba
1 Carapace Forger
1 Carrion Call
1 Copperhorn Scout
1 Cystbearer
2 Molder Beast
1 Tel-Jilad Fallen
1 Untamed Might
1 Wing Puncture
1 Dross Hopper
1 Palladium Myr
1 Heavy Arbalest
2 Copper Myr
1 Stoic Rebuttal
1 Darkslick Drake
1 Argent Sphinx
1 Cerebral Eruption
1 Tower of Calamities
2 Sylvok Replica
2 Myr Galvanizer
1 Neurok Invisimancer
1 Ghalma's Warden
1 Ezuri, Renegade Leader
1 Ezuri's Archers
1 Accorder's Shield
1 Sky-Eel School
When you break it down the Blue is clearly the strongest color in the pool. You get a couple of tricks with Disperse & Neurok Invisimancer. You get an exceptional amount of evasion, one of which is a solid "bombish" flyer in Argent Sphinx. Red has three cards that can each be wrecking crews leading easy blowouts in Embersmith, Arc Trail, and Cerebral Eruption, but it doesn't really have anything else. White has two solid removal spells in Revoke Existence and Arrest. It also comes with two Glint Hawk Idols and an Origin Spellbomb which are all great cards if your already in white. Green has two Sylvok Replicas and a real bomb in Engulfing Slagwurm. Green also has fat in the form of Molder Beasts plus a combat trick in the form of Untamed Might(which doesn't have to be an infect card). Black however is completely unplayable in this pool in my opinion. Now onto the Artifacts. The most immediately notable are Sylvok Lifestaff, Contagion Clasp, Heavy Arbalest, Palladium Myr, and 3 other mana myr. These are almost always guaranteed includes. Myr Galvanizer is a card that gets better in duplicates and is fine as a singleton in a deck with four or more myr, otherwise it doesn't really do enough. Having two and four mana myr total equals more than good enough. Snapsail Glider and Rusted Relic have been falling out of my favor in nonwhite metalcraft decks, though they are each still very good. Tower of Calamities is the last artifact worth mentioning and if your deck can get to the late game this card is a must destroy or it just takes over. Depending on the type of deck you have you might want to run it in the sideboard and bring it in if you think the games will go long against your opponent. So on to what I built.
8 Island
7 Mountain
2 Forest
1 Argent Sphinx
1 Sky-Eel School
1 Darkslick Drake
1 Vedalken Certarch
1 Neurok Invisimancer
1 Disperse
1 Embersmith
1 Arc Trail
1 Cerebral Eruption
2 Sylvok Replica
1 Contagion Clasp
2 Copper Myr
1 Leaden Myr
1 Palladium Myr
2 Myr Galvanizer
1 Saberclaw Golem
1 Sylvok Lifestaff
1 Heavy Arbalest
1 Bladed Pinions
1 Panic Spellbomb
I decided the red was more powerful than the white. In hindsight I still consider this true as Embersmith & Arc Trail > Arrest & Revoke Existence. The main problem being that I am only heavy red for the Cerebral Eruption and while this does allow me to run Panic Spellbomb(which in all honesty isn't good in a splash red deck), it just isn't enough. I felt, while registering my deck anyway, that my deck didn't want Tower of Calamities maindeck. This was a huge mistake that I recited over and over to friends immediately after turning in my pool. Bladed Pinions has no place in my deck and it frequently turned into Tower after boarding. The Copper Myrs allowed for an easy splash of the two Sylvok Replicas and with one exception I was able to blow my Replicas each time I drew them. The blue was the obvious play the only curious choices I suppose are the inclusion of Vedalken Certarch(which I included because even if you aren't metalcraft he generally draws early removal from people living in fear of him taking over) and the non-inclusion of Stoic Rebuttal(Which I didn't include because I felt I was a tapout all the time type of deck). So after reading my reasons for why I built the deck the way I did you can easily read between the lines that I......am........a ...........IDIOT!!!!!!!!!
Onto the tournament.

He wins the roll
Game 1 I am on the draw
He accelerates out a turn four Molder Beast followed by a turn five Bladed Pinions equip. He then proceeds to kill artifacts I have on the board and mangle me quickly. The turn before I die I rip Cerebral Eruption and cast it revealing a land on top of his deck.
Lose
Game 2 I am on the draw
He again gets a very fast draw. I manage to kill everything on his board via an Arc Trail and double Sylvok Replica draw thinking I have stabilized at 8 life with a Sky-Eel School as my only creature in play and lands in hand. I get him to 8 life as well. He then plays Golem Artisan. I untap and draw Sylvok Lifestaff play it and equip quickly to the Eel. I technically win the race but can die to a number of Artifacts that the Artisan can give haste or since he's green I also lose to an Untamed Might which is a common to consider. So I pass and after some thought he decides to attack into my guy. Now the issue with my play is that I must block here. You see he has eight mana and he can trample me for three damage. If I dont block I go to 1 life and really only have the out of Cerebral Eruption off the top revealing a three casting cost guy which in total is very low percentage any other draw and I am basically dead. So I move the Eel up and block to which he proudly taps two mana and says "I give my Artisan First Strike!" I promptly tell him to actually read the Artisan. He gets a little confused picks it up reads off the three abilities aloud "Haste, Trample, and Flying" frowns and then......PUTS THE ARTISAN IN THE GRAVEYARD. I quickly throw my Eel in the yard and go to 11 life. The next turn I draw a Darkslick Drake and with the help of the lifestaff kill him in three turns.
Win
Game 3 I am on the draw
This was really a non-game as I drew a couple of myrs and both Myr Galvanizers to quickly overwhelm him with early fatties.

Game 1 I am on the draw
He plays Turn 2 Glint Hawk Idol, Turn 3 Snapsail Glider attack for two, Turn 4 Snapsail Glider attack for four, Turn 5 Arrest your only flier activate Glint Hawk Idol attack for six, Turn 6 attack for six. All the while my only action was my turn 4 Darkslick Drake(which got arrested) I drew equipment and myrs and got blown out.
Lose
Game 2 I am on the draw
He has turn 2 mana myr, turn 3 Palladium Myr and I have the Arc Trail for the blowout. My hand at the time of casting the Arc Trail is Sky-Eel School, Cerebral Eruption, and Myr Galvanizer(with lands of course). I play out the creatures in my hand as he does though he is stuck on lands a little. My Eel gets arrested and I only draw lands for the rest of the game. Though despite that I did get him to 11 life. Every time I cast Cerebral Eruption this game by the way it revealed a land.

Game 1 I am on the play
He hits four land and stops but keeps playing spells every turn while all I can do is draw lands. I get him all the way down to 17 life before he kills me.
Game 2 I am on the draw
Is interesting mostly because he is apparently flooded and doesn't do a whole lot the first few turns of the game. I get him to 8 life then on his turn seven he plays Myr Battlesphere. On my following turn I play the Sylvok Replica I had been sandbagging all game and destroy it. I attack with my two creatures that can and he chumps. He then drops Kemba's Skyguard. I cast Cerebral Eruption on the following turn revealing land. I get him to 4 life on the following turn and consider either expanding my board or playing Cerebral Eruption again with my previous bad experiences I decide to expand my board. He of course topdecks True Conviction and bashes with the Skyguard going back up to eight with one myr token left back to block. On the following turn I cast Cerebral Eruption revealing Hoard-Smelter Dragon and Vedalken Certarch and randomly choose not to attack for the win. He plays the dragon I untap and tap his dragon and attack for the win.
Win
Game 3 I am on the play
He plays turn 1 Darksteel Axe, Turn 2 Sunspear Shikari(which I kill on my turn 3 with Arc Trail), Turn 3 Sunspear Shikari, Turn 4 Equip and bash, Turn 5 Arc Trail x2(2+1 to Sky-Eel School, 2 to me, 1 to Copper Myr). I actually almost accelerate out to eight mana with my boarded in Tower of Calamities in play but he rips a Tumble Magnet to tap my Leaden Myr during upkeep before I draw the land. He also has a Ratchet Bomb that he is building up to four counters while I am sandbagging a Sylvok Replica waiting for the green mana(him killing the Copper Myr earlier was a big deal). I draw a nonforest land(eighth mana source) the turn before the Ratchet Bomb goes off to take out the Tower and the second Sunspear Shikari gets me.

He is on 5 life so if my two creatures get through I win so first I equip one of the Galvanizers with Bladed Pinions, then I play Neurok Invisimancer on the other Galvanizer and attack. I destroy it(with a Sylvok Replica) to save a 2/2 Sky-Eel School and a 1/3 Darkslick Drake and attack him down to 7. He then Razor Hippogriff's back the Engine going up to 13. After he kills off the rest of my board I rebuild and he Glimmerpoint Stag's the Engine and we are off to game 2.

He has a good early game this time followed up with Contagion Engine again. He doesn't have much going on until I kill a Clone Shell of his and reveals Razor Hippogriff and he gets back the Clone Shell instead of the Contagion Engine. If my deck had given me the Tower of Calamities I had boarded in for his cocky behaviour of not getting back the Engine I would have easily won this game but instead the magic gods rewarded his poor play with a victory. This was really the only game loss that bothered me as he drew insanely well but didn't play correctly and the power of the cards got him there.

In closing I built the deck entirely wrong. Cerebral Eruption was always garbage and being heavy red only for it and Panic Spellbomb just wasn't worth it. The green had more win conditions which is what I was mostly missing. The double Myr Galvanizer draw shouldn't be what I need to bat .500 in games(Not to mention that I need to bat .800 in games). If I had it to do all over again I would have been green/blue ignoring the splash for red.

This build is just inherently more powerful than the original and can still have the occasional fast start. It has a much better long game than the other deck. Since long game is in all actuality more important in this format especially after you start 2-0 or 3-0. The thing that hurt me the most was how good Cerebral Eruption was in testing compared to how awful it was in the tournament. If it had been the normal one sided wrath of God with a lava axe included then I would have won every game I drew it and the direction I took with the deck would have generally been justified. The card is awful in general though and is often just a mana sink and time walks you for your opponent. Tower of Calamities being the only other mistake. If I had it in the maindeck it would have been an out in 2 of my game 1s that I lost. Rusted Relic is probably a card I should have forced in the deck anyway as it is like the Certarch in that even if it isn't active your opponent might feel the need to destroy it early and if they don't and it gets active it can help you to destroy your opponent.

Finally are there any questions?
