If anyone is interested in doing another sealed league with the New Phyrexia set, we will discuss it Friday Night at the event. I know some people are probably burnt out on league at the moment, but I figured some of you would like a chance to play with the new cards. If we do start up a new league it will only run for 6 weeks and maybe a special event afterwards.

Well, I thought I'd give this one more try. Mainly as an excuse to open some New Phyrexia packs. Lets keep it short and sweet, only a 4 week league with a special event afterwards. The special event being either any remaining Mirrans running a gauntlet through every Phyrexian player to escape or if everyone is Phyrexian it will be one big game to decide who is the top Phyrexian. To make it even more interesting, I think everyone should be allowed to choose which packs they open for the start of the league. Maybe you go with all New Phyrexia or a few from each set. Anyway, if you are interested, please post a reply, and while you're at it, let us know if you want to be Phyrexian or Mirran.
New Phyrexia League The Phyrexian horde has won the war. What was once Mirrodin is now New Phyrexia. But victory is not enough for the Phyrexians, they want total domination.
Phyrexian Players: Any player choosing the Phyrexian side will always be a Phyrexian, there is no way for you to switch sides. As a Phyrexian your goal is to hunt down any remaining Mirrans and convert them to the greater glory of Phyrexia. As the Mirrans dwindle to nothing you will be expected to fight among yourselves in order to thin out any weak and unworthy Phyrexians. Jason will be the only Praetor in charge of the Phyrexians this time around. Nathan and Randy have regressed back to basic Phyrexians. There are no special rules or events for the Praetor though, he is simply in charge of motivating his minions and resolving any issues over challenges.
Mirran Players: Any player choosing the Mirran side will have a rough time trying to stay a Mirran. The weak will be turned quickly, all will be turned eventualy. The goal is to last as long as you can. Any Mirran player who goes 0/3 in skirmishes on any given week will become a Phyrexian. Any Mirran who concedes a game, no matter what the reason, will become a Phyrexian. If two Mirrans face off in a skirmish, the losing player will become a Phyrexian (Think of it as tripping a fellow Mirran so that the Phyrexians capture him while you slip away). Other methods of conversion may pop up in the comming weeks.
Battle Tokens Battle tokens can be earned in many ways and will be needed for certain things throughout the league.
Earning Battle Tokens - Any player who wins a skirmish against a player of an opposing faction earns one token. - Any player who wins a skirmish using an all artifact deck earns two tokens. (basic lands are always allowed)
Phyrexians - If you go 3/0 in skirmishes, you earn two tokens. - If you play a deck that consists entirely of Phyrexian faction cards, you earn one token. (only one token for that week, you do not earn one for each game.) - If you manage to convert a Mirran player to Phyrexia, you earn two tokens. - At the end of each week, each Phyrexian player will recieve an additional token for each Mirran converted in that week.
Mirrans - If you go 3/0 in skirmishes, you earn one token. - If you play a deck that consists entirely of Mirran faction cards, you earn one token. - If you win a challenge game, you earn two tokens. (Phyrexians will be allowed to challenge you, look below for details.)
Spending Battle Tokens - Any player who wants to add a pack to their league pool at the end of the week must turn in one battle token in addition to any costs for purchasing a pack. (If you dont have a token, to bad! If you fail to add a pack one week, you cannot double up on the next week. - Any player may spend one token to play a makeup game if they were unalbe to play all their skirmishes on a previous week.
Phyrexians - You may spend one token to decide who goes first when playing against a Mirran.
- You may spend two tokens to challenge a Mirran. If you win the game by giving the Mirran player ten poision counters, that player becomes a Phyrexian and plays for the Phyrexian side for the rest of the league. If the Mirran player still has skirmishes to play that week, he or she plays the rest of them as a Phyrexian and follows all rules for the Phyrexian side. More then one Phyrexian may challenge the same Mirran and Phyrexian players may issue as many challenges as they want as long as they have the tokens to do so. Any conflict between Phyrexian players over who gets to challenge someone first will be resolved by the Phyrexian Praetor. If the Praetor is not present, the dominant phyrexian (the one with the highest amount of points at the time) will choose the order of challengers.
- You may spend three tokens to add a phyrexian faction uncommon of your choice to your league pool. (You must provide the card yourself and make sure to list it on your league sheet) - You may spend five tokens to add a phyrexian faction rare of your choice to your league pool. - You may spend ten tokens to add a phyrexian faction mythic of your choice to your league pool.
Mirrans - You may spend one token to remove a poison counter during your upkeep in any skirmish. (only one token may be spent per turn)
Thats all for now, good luck Mirrans, you’re going to need it.

you know everyone could do a commander league with the new commander decks and still add a pack every week to help change up your deck. but thats just a thought.

Every time we have mentioned a commander league or tournament before, someone always gripes about it being a fun casual format and not wanting to ruin it with any sort of competitive play. I'd like to give it a try sometime.

yeah but now you have product from wotc available with ready to go decks. where if you do a league, you have to use one of these decks not one of your own, and you can change it up by buying a pack ever week. my only thing would be. is the pack people can add maybe they can bring their own pack in an add like maybe a onslaught pack or time spiral not just nph. idk i am just throwing stuff out there.

That sounds fun. I have plenty of old packs to use for that.

you should bring it up to john i would even join that league, but if you get older packs they have to be inspected by the to, and opened right there so people can see.
