OK so the first thing that I am sure we both did is build a Monoblack list taking advantage of the fact that you have two Phyrexian Obliterators. To be completely honest, I think the Monoblack list looks very powerful. For reference it would look like this. 1 Fume Spitter 1 Leaden Myr 1 Iron Myr 1 Porcelain Legionnaire 1 Necropede 1 Plague Stinger 2 Snapsail Glider 1 Trespassing Souleater 1 Blind Zealot 2 Phyrexian Obliterator 1 Corpse Cur 1 Bleak Coven Vampires 1 Dementia Bat 1 Phyrexian Hulk 1 Toxic Nim 1 Grim Affliction 1 Shrine of Burning Rage 1 Parasitic Implant 1 Trigon of Thought 1 Instill Infection 1 Caress of Phyrexia 17 Swamp The deck has a minor infect theme going on. The obvious problem among other things is it doesn't have much in the way of reactive cards. Overall I think that this list is much more powerful than what most sealed decks can produce. Dun Dun Dun, but wait there is more to your sealed pool. So lets build the second most obvious deck the Red White list. 1 Glint Hawk 1 Iron Myr 1 Leaden Myr 1 Necropede 1 Embersmith 2 Snapsail Glider 1 Trespassing Souleater 1 Porcelain Legionnaire 1 Tormentor Exarch 2 Blade-Tribe Berserkers 1 Slash Panther 1 Sensor Splicer 1 Shattered Angel 1 Sunblast Angel 1 Chancellor of the Annex 1 Koth of the Hammer 1 Shrine of Burning Rage 1 Trigon of Thought 1 Forced Worship 1 Artillerize 1 Victorious Destruction 7 Plains 10 Mountain So yeah, this deck is also insanely dumb. Again obvious problem is that you don't have many reactive cards. Less than the Monoblack list in fact! So when you count out the removal next you see Monoblack has effectively six removal spells(Shrine of Burning Rage, Fume Spitter, Necropede, Instill Infection, Parasitic Implant, Grim Affliction) though three aren't going to kill anything with larger than one toughness, Shrine is going to be exceptionally slow and Parasitic Implant gives them a turn to deal with it or just kamikaze with their guy. Whereas the Red White list has eight removal spells (Forced Worship, Shrine of Burning Rage, Necropede, Victorious Destruction, Sunblast Angel, Tormentor Exarch, Artillerize, Embersmith) I still count Embersmither because even with just ten artifacts in your deck he can kill random one toughness dorks. The huge difference with the Red White deck's list of removal is that it can handle a larger group of problem cards. Shrine is going to get big and quick with eight red spells to complement it this time and you can't forget to mention the blowouts that Sunblast Angel will cause. Also overall each deck has two bombs with a mediocre following of creatures. The Red White deck's creatures certainly look much better than the Monoblack deck's creature suite, but I don't know if that makes up for the fact that I think two Phyrexian Obliterators trump a Koth plus Sunblast Angel. The Monoblack deck's ability to infect them out in the end game seems possible and Obliterator would just get quick victories, but not enough removal for scary cards is there. To be honest I wouldn't fault anyone for running one list or the other. Even with everything else being equal I would have run Monoblack to get a feel for the Obliterator's power. I would have also been ready to board into the Red White deck on a moment's notice. I think that if you chose to go Red White you would also have to be ready to board into the Monoblack deck when it matched up correctly. That is all the crazytripper has to say about that.
