So Nin will be the general.
I think the deck should be sort of built around her. It needs cards like Vicious Shadows, Sudden Impact, Runeflare Trap, and such.
Basically, she kills things, they draw cards, they take damage.
Meanwhile, we need large creatures to get through after she clears a path.
That's my thoughts. Anyone else have ideas?

What does the general do? I've never seen him.

Hm big creatures , all i can think of without looking is Chancellor of the Forge and Red Praetor for now.
What about also using Magebane armor and High tide to get you some quick card draws?

Nin, the Pain Artist
UR
Legendary Creature - Vedalken Wizard
XUR, T: Nin deals X damage to target creature. That creature's controller draws X cards.
1/1
And, David, Magebane Armor is brilliant. That seems like a great card for the deck.

I think that Consecrated Sphinx is a must, along with Jace's Erasure and Jace's Archivist. All 3 Jaces will fit in very nicely as well, if price isn't a problem. I like having Sphinx of Jwar Isle in almost all my blue EDH decks that focus on having beaters, simply because they have to waste wraths to get rid of it most games. The new Sphinx of Uthuun works well as well, giving you a large flying beat-stick plus card advantage.

I think Mindwrack liege and Crackleburr could help with big creatures and giving nin extra ability uses.
As for big creatures there is always, Avatar of Slaughter, Avatar of Will, or Aven Fateshaper.

Does this mean everyone agrees with the direction I suggested, or are there other ideas that we haven't yet touched on?

I like this idea. We could use creatures like Adamaro, First to Desire and if ya want them discarding as much as they are drawing you can play things like shocker/barbed shocker. But if making them draw out and take damage for it is the main goal I like Forced Fruition. Cerebral Vortex could be fun and Archmage Ascension would be good for a constant tutor to set up combos/get bigger creatures out/etc. And maybe Ebony Owl Netsuke for a little extra damage (I just pulled a foil one out of a pack)

All good suggestions.
I've had another thought, though.
Do we want to put a tight budget on this deck? That way, maybe we can all possibly build it. I understand that not everyone has my card pool.
Also, any of the cards we end up putting on the list, if you have multiples of it that you aren't planning to use, let us know so some of us can trade for them.

Seems like a good idea. It would atleast make it easier to contribute to the creation of the deck.

I can get what I don't have (most cases anyway), so I'm not too worried about price personally. I know there are others who are, so it would probably be nice to keep it somewhat budget friendly.
