As we all know, I have an unhealthy tendency to play UB control as my deck of choice. So, here are my current ideas for the basic skeleton of the deck when Innistrad hits.
Creatures:
4x Solemn Simulacrum - Your goal is still going to be the same, survive until you can hit your six drops. This fits the bill perfectly by ramping, playing defense, and providing card advantage.
3x Consecrated Sphinx - In my opinion, the best 6 drop in standard. I have yet to lose a game where I was able to stick one.
3x Grave Titan - The ability to produce tokens is what pushes Grave Titan over Frost Titan for me. Not only do they provide better blocking situations, but they also do amazing things when you have to race.
Removal/Control:
4x Dismember - The best removal spell in Standard. The flexibility of the phyrexian mana makes it even more of a must-of for black-based control.
2x Doom Blade - Efficient removal, enough said.
2x Go for the Throat - Efficient removal
4x Mana Leak - Slows down early game while hitting key spells in the late game, essential for out plan.
4x Think Twice - Best card draw in the format. Being cheap and instant speed gives us the flexibility we need.
2x Black Sun's Zenith - We need some sort of sweeper for aggro matchups, and this is the best currently in the format.
As stated earlier, I feel that this should be the basic skeleton for most builds (Tezz and Mill builds not included). I may put my specific build up after state championships (don't want everyone metagaming me out of the tourney, lol). I will, however, put a list of cards worth considering.
Snapcaster Mage - Very strong in a deck looking to win off of powerful instants/sorceries. It feels to me that it has a spot in UB control (buying back removal/counters as you need them) but it's at it's strongest in builds with more impactful spells.
Sorin's Vengeance - Speaking of impactful spells.... This card saw some play in UB builds in larger Japanese tourneys just after M12 hit. This fills exactly like what UB wants as a finisher. Once you drop it it changes the game completely. I wouldn't suggest running it as more than a 2 of, possibly a 3 of. You don't want multiples of these in your opening hand. If the format is slow enough, it may prove to be extremely good.
Sorin Markhov - Worth atleast a small part in the deck. Can quickly turn the game in your favor.
Frost Titan - While I may list Grave Titan as better for UB, this guy is still a house.
Liliana of the Veil - While she's good, it would take a lot of tweaking to make her good for the deck. Unlike Jace Beleren (our previous 3-drop walker) she is only an engine in decks built to utilize her, this not being one of those decks. I prefer her in Esper of WB builds with Sun Titan.
Trinket Mage/Treasure Mage Packages - These are very efficient forms of card advantage. If you feel like one of these packages would help your deck, I would be in support of including one.
any other additions or changes to the skeleton or the suggestions list, feel free to power.
