continued from "no sealed fourm" (<--leave it to Ben)...
I think you guys should look into doing a little more than just drafting. I think as a group everybody has greatly improved in their draft because you guys do it every weekend. But drafting, in the grand scheme of the game, is not as important as some of the other formats: standard, extended, and even sealed. I really think you should look to vary up your events a little bit. If drafting as often as you have has made you stronger, then doing all the other events a bit more could make you that much stronger. We struggle at PTQs and.. 5K? (I think they are).. events, and I think it is mainly because we just don't have the experience in those formats like the other players do. For instance, down here at Jaks, he holds tournaments Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - FNM, Extended, and Vintage (nobody really comes to the latter). And some of their players are within the top 10 in the state. I think you should consider this.

Points well taken. I'm not opposed to doing Sealed events. The problem lies in the $ involved to play these. I will be open to suggestions and comments regarding people wanting to or not wanting to do such. We typically only get a taste of sealed at the Prerelease. Building a deck and playing in sealed events is definitely a different strategy than draft and it took me many many years to realize this. Still I have formats where if I practiced it more, I would understand it better in sealed (M11 being a prime example). Sealed events would cost $24, in order to cover the product, room, and prizes under our current prize payout for events. I would also require deck registration for these events.
We could also stand to at a minimum practice more constructed even if we are not having standard tournaments. Let's face it, limited lets us all open more cards and add to the collective pool, and that is one of the primary driving reasons we play it more IMHO.

I agree that limited is important because it adds to the pool. would it be feasibly to do, say, our own form of Champs for different constructed formats? That adds additional constructed formats a year to our schedule.
