I was looking at the newest stuff to be spoiled and I'm noticing a lot of creatures with Infect. At first glance I liked Infect only for the Wither effect, and I thought the poison counters actually put a damper on creatures since they don't deal regular combat damage. The new Mythic, for instance, 4/4 Flying, Infect, B: Haste, BB: Regenerate for 3BB. I look at it and think, while its good, its not great because you don't deal 4 damage, you deal 4 poison counters. But if you build an entire deck around the infect, then that seems pretty good right? a) Your opponent loses at 10 poison counters. That's easier to deal than 20 damage. 1/1 Infect creatures are the same as a 2/1 creature. So the common 1/1 Flier for 1B could actually be considered a 2/1 Flier, and that's pretty good. b) Your opponent gaining life doesn't put you out of win range. My opponent could be playing Soul Sisters, and have 40 life, but they will still lose when you hit them with 10 poison counters.
I'm interested to see what else gets spoiled to see if Infect is going to be a viable tool in Standard.

Plus, we have what old poison decks didn't have: Proliferate. If good cards with Proliferate are printed, then that could be what pushes Infect decks to Tier 1. For example, take the instant speed draw spell. Most decks, paying 3 for one card wouldn't be that spectacular, but being able to speed up your clock at the same time could mean a lot for Infect decks.

the black dragon is very playabe, and in 3 swings your opponent is dead. so do i think infect with hit standard i do and i believe there will be other cards more playbale then that one. but a 5 mana with 4 abilities is retarded. when 2 of those abilites are haste and regen.

another factor is how good the removal is going to be in Scars. Shards has the best removal in Standard right now, so if Wizards decides to throw more bomby removal in Scars to make up for it rotating out, infect may not be as successful as possible.

the only thing that makes the removal in shards good is maelstrom pulse, but i think the removal is fairly even. but id o think scars/phrexia will have decnet removal hopefully a black mass removal.

Shards also has Path and Terminate as removal, both of which are pretty darn good.

path is good but also bad. its good past turn 3 but if your oppoenent is mana screwed you just help them out. but every removal has a situation. terminate is double colored and cant be spalshed. so even though its good you cant spalsh it like other good removal (doomblade, path as you said, and the card replacing path cause its better condemn)
